Communication as the Key to Good Writing Writing as it exists in this world can be interpreted an infinite amount of ways. Some believe it to be communication, some self expression. Some believe that it is a tool to explain one self, others think it complicates things. Ultimately, writing is used for remembering things so that you can eventually communicate with yourself and others about what you thought at a previous time. If you can talk without confusing, then you can write without confusing. It is as simple as that. In order for someone to become a good writer, all that person has got to do is make sense of their feelings by writing them down in a fashion that is understood by those who one wishes to communicate with. That is, tell†¦show more content†¦The truth is that it does not matter what you write about, what tone you use, what voice you are in, or any other definite literary device you use to put your thoughts to the page. If you can not convince or relate, you will not associate with the reader. It is n o different when talking. Boredom is just that, boring situations. People do not read what is boring nor do they talk to boring people for very long. But a realization must be made about what is boring to individuals because everyone plays their own game. So to write good is to relate good with whom you are trying to associate with. An example can be made of the last sentence printed previous to this one. To write good is to relate good is a collection of words that will turn most high school English teachers in their sleep. The sentence is compiled of poor grammar and a fragmented phrase. But it is a sentence that almost any person can read and understand. It could have been phrased in the following manner: To write in a manner that is well understood can be done by appealing to the individual or individuals that you are attempting to reach with your literature. or possibly like this: Proper writing can be accomplished by phrasing words in a manner that the reader can find both appealing and interesting. Comparing and Contrasting Early Buddhism and the Bhagavad GÄ «tÄ  Early Buddhism and the Bhagavad GÄ «tÄ  have a wide array similarities and differences. Both Buddhism and the Gita deal with an inner struggle. We see Arjuna dealing with the struggle of whether or not he should murder his family in order to obtain a kingdom. In Buddhism, we see the inner struggle as the quest to find nirvana and the pain that is the very act of living. Although there are some similarities, the differences between Buddhism and the Gita are clear. One of the biggest digressions between the two is how one deals with the notion of atman and how one must live their life in order to reach the ultimate goal of nirvana or moksha. One of the most important divergences between Buddhism and the Gita is how dharma is interpreted. In the Bhagavad GÄ «tÄ  Krishna is able to shed some light on the significance of dharma. A Modest Proposal Jonathan Swift Essay In very simple terms, A Modest Proposal is a satire of the social and economic events in Ireland. It was written in the early eighteenth century in an attempt to shame England and to shock Ireland. Jonathan Swift lived in an Ireland which was a colony, politically, militarily, and economically dependent on England. England was happy to keep things as they were to keep Ireland weak. The result was an overpopulated and poor Ireland. Swift offers a solution for the problems of Ireland in a practical manner. Through his ironic prose, Swift suggests one solution for both the problem of overpopulation and the growing numbers of starving people. The idea is to breed the children of Ireland for food and then sale the carcasses to England to improve Ireland’s living conditions. Swift was writing in response to the belief that the English are taking control and destroying the Irish. It definitely shows England as the villain. † For this kind of commodity will not bear exportation, the flesh being of too tender a consistence to admit a long continuance in salt, although perhaps I could name a country, which would be glad to eat up our whole nation without it. † This writing also gives equal responsibility to the Irish for their plight. Swift was extremely enraged at the passivity of the Irish people. It was an attempt to shock the Irish out of their lethargic state. Swift had made numerous proposals to the Irish Parliament which were ignored. These proposals included the taxing of absentee landlords, to encourage the Irish industries and to improve the land. A Modest Proposal is a parody of Swift’s own serious proposals. â€Å"But, as to myself, having been wearied out for many years with offering vain, idle, visionary thoughts, and at length utterly despairing of success,† By mentioning his clearly more rational ideas that would have helped Ireland rectify things, Swift pokes fun of his fellow Irishmen. In his proposal he asks that no one talk of these ideas unless there is an attempt to put them into practice. He speaks of the poverty and terrible life conditions of his fellow Irish. The oppressed, ignorant and hungry peasants that are desperate for any type of salvation even though this might require the sacrificing of their young, â€Å"first ask the parents of these mortals, whether they would not at this day think it a great happiness to have been sold for food at a year old. After all these peasants were so desperate that they were already murdering their bastard children to avoid the expense. He uses shock value to try and open their eyes. Swift wrote this proposal with such a rational voice and logic that he makes it seem feasible. As Swift mentions the many different advantages of his proposal, it does make perfect sense that it would help the Irish help themselves out of their plight. He makes it even more persuasive when he urges others to describe a better way to solve the problem.

To strengthen others, I need to develop and make more informed decisions and be more realistic on how to overcome barriers. As Dr. Ward spoke of her leadership effectiveness, she challenged the process evaluating the consequences of her actions knowing the odds were against her succeeding. As I realize the odds of finding employment may be challenging, I am up for the challenge. We must be in tuned with ourselves. In order to deliver information properly; there’s reality. I also need to focus on delegating and following up as I plan to use leadership development as a guide to embark as I improve my ability to challenge the process. Leadership Values, Goals Mission My Vision as a leader is to be able to master a many leadership skills so that I can effectively communicate my goals. As I realize my primary vision is to make money, the second passion is to invest in a business to inspire others so that they too can do the same. As I want to focus on changing, adapting, and empowering people to realize their own energy. I look forward to completing this degree. As Dr. Ward articulated there were a lot of inefficiencies and failures she learned to challenge the way by sharing her experiences using emotional and authentic leadership characteristics, I too need to realize what lies ahead and be honest with myself want to develop competence and confidence more within so that I can continue to interject and practice new experiences with my staff. Leaders increase the belief in their own ability to make a difference, according to Kouzes Posner, (2007), leaders help others to learn new skills and development existing talents, and they provide the institutional support required for ongoing growth and change. In the final analysis, what leaders are doing is turning their constituents into leaders (251). My future staffing and empowerment agency mission is to do just that. What I Have Learned As I agree with Kotter (2008), leadership and management are two distinctive and complementary systems of action, and are necessary for success of all business ventures, I know they must coexist. Because there are so many similarities in both functions, I sway back and forth on the approaches of why one supersedes the other. While it may be easy to state that both leadership and management have to balance one another based on actions that fall under both theories. Those who perform in managerial positions have limitations because their visions are micro managed. As we network amongst each other, (leaders and managers) and while leaders are considered the visionaries, why is it that they need mangers to carry out their dreams? I believe the mood and tone does set a difference between leaders. I have to listen and focus on what is being expressed. Connecting with staff members on a positive light can be very rewarding, in reverse, as a leader, it can cause total anarchy. Goleman, Boyatzis and McKee (2008) believe great leadership works through their emotions (p 16). As I agree with the authentic approach, and highly believe that you must always be yourself. Bennis (2008) states, â€Å"authentic leaders are generous and may experience a pang at watching someone accomplish something they cannot do† at that point, emotions are running high (p 73). And because of their actions, regardless of their leadership behavior, they cannot help but become emotional; it is an inevitable characteristic. I also learned that people have capacities to become strong mangers, but not strong enough to lead. Such as in the case of a well rounded educator who is incapable of delivering good instruction to students. Strong leadership with weak management is no better, and is sometimes actually worse, than the reverse. (Kotter, 2008). Initial behavior changes come directly from managers; even though leadership is about change, management and leadership are about coping with complexities, both are bosses, both are in demand. I know that my dream involves Kouzes Posner, (2007), â€Å"Leaders know well that innovation and change involves experimenting and taking risks. One way of dealing with the potential risks and failure of experimentation is to approach change through incremental steps and small wins; and that the key that unlocks the door to opportunity is learning† (pp 19-20). The two closest styles I related with most are emotional and authentic leadership as I feel they interrelate. As in the case of Dr. King’s, â€Å"I have a Dream â€Å"speech. While most of us have learned to rise from the occasion, and understand, historically, mankind has come a long way, if we are to live as one, we have yet a long way to go; actions for good leadership are of great need. We must realize that we cannot walk alone, collaboration is needed. Dr. King beliefs were very authentic and emotion as he captured the nation’s attention to address equality. This speech inspired me to remain committed to the cause of being myself, a compassionate person that listens and acts on the needs of others while servicing in the educational and private sector. I have learned to connect history to my future as I envision using my leadership skills as a reminder that history does count and can be used as a shield and/or guide to help others move forward. Dr. King’s speech teaches all how important our history is and how it actually relates to our future. While he spoke then on a bogus check, our nation still seems is trying to cash in on the same dollar. We have enslaved ourselves in a different light; our standards seem to be sub standing and there is still a need for change. I learned from my leadership interview with Dr. Anitra J. Ward, who is a self-described political animal that loves challenging others to excels. She added that it is not enough to simply do the normal things on a job, e. g. coming to work on time, finishing tasks, one must work and play well with others. The reality is that work environments are not just about the job you were hired to do, it’s about knowing who you are and what’s important; a true authentic sign of leadership. Leaders need to share the missteps that they make and provide a map that guides the others along the way so that they can model the way for others. I’ve learned from this course that I need to tap into my own needs, strengths, weaknesses as I develop and focus on specializing in I have accepted concentrating on my writing skills, it is of the greatest important as I have to learn to articulate my thoughts succinctly. The main thing that I am taking away from course is that nothing is ever â€Å"finished† when it comes to organizational battles; alliances change as new challenges are introduced to the workplace. As a leader who is willing to challenge the traditional process, I must be prepared to take the first step alone and give others the time to determine their own level of comfort for change. Levy knew that he could not do it alone, it took collaboration. I attempt to incorporate as much as I have learned from my MBA experience with my direct reports and subordinates. This in turn fosters collaboration and development of new processes and procedures for future endeavors. I will continue to inspire others to excel and use my coaching skills as a less formal way of expression for growth. My Proposed Project I plan to put my experience to practice within the within the next two years. I want to own an employment agency focusing on placing people with disabilities on the job. As a backup plan, I want to be an educator. The individuals that I will serve must be drug free and be able to comprehend, yet, have the ability to perform as the job would relate to their situation. According to the Office of Disability Employment Polity (ODEP), Temporary staffing agencies may be one answer to people with disabilities finding employment opportunities. Because of my backup plan to work as an educator, I also envision working primarily with underprivileged children; focusing on the importance of education and self preservation. By creating an environment of this nature, I want to model the way by showing (those society see as less fortunate) people, I care and can make a positive difference in their lives with the help from others as we strengthened their learning capabilities. Activities I will model the value of collaboration by sharing information and encouraging others to persevere. Empowerment will come in the form of team members adjusting their schedules to help their contemporary complete their studies if they take advantage of free tuition policy. In this respect a sense of trust is formed amongst ourselves as we pass on the torch to encourage the next to join in. By having models of success that people can identify with, it is my hope that others will be empowered to take advantage of the benefits education has to offer. My staff spends that majority of the day together as we see each other as an extended family member. Key Insights Conclusions As initial behavioral changes come directly from managers, I have learned as a leader we have to be very careful in our delivery as our actions can cause staff to personally lose respect and devalue everything that comes out of our mouth even though moods and emotions are seen trivial from a business point of view (Goleman, Boyatzis and McKee 2008, p 21). I must be able to articulate to my audiences in a captivating manner. I agree in the primal leadership theory; introspectively speaking, yes we must be in tuned with ourselves, this makes us authentic. And as we are challenged daily with unforeseen events, we have to put on that face as well as relay updates to our direct reports. I find it unsettling as I express directives that take tolls on staff, as a woman, (an emotional being). I have found as changes arise, subordinates seek surrogacy; even men fall into this category, they want recognition in the same regard. Studies have found that more positive the overall moods of people in the top management team, the more cooperatively they worked together – and the better the company’s business results (Goleman, Boyatzis, McKee, 2008, p 23). I will take all of these evaluations and incorporate them into the culture of my business. For I look forward to a reputable place where people are delighted to be a part of; as trust, respect and honesty are prime characteristics. I will work on remaining calm and focused in stressful situations for it serves as a benchmark in my decision making and communicational skills. And as Dr. Ward expressed, â€Å"Anyone can steer a ship in calm waters, but it takes competence at the helm to navigate treacherous seas. † This is a motto she constantly used as she pushed others to excel. Conger (1989) suggest: rather to be truly effective it requires an understanding of subordinates and one’s organizational context †¦that forms partnerships to enhance their products or services (p 23). Sure, management practices vary as people understand the context of their environment, it’s also important to note that teamwork counts and it’s good to want people to feel comfortable and in charge while performing daily. I look forward to multiplicity as diversity helped Levy’s prior experience to be of great benefit as he gained trust from internal and external constituents. His role proved a true global leader; effectively proving organization and leadership are intertwined with culture formation, evolution, transformation and destruction (Schein, 2008, p368). I will take all of the skills acquired from the various degrees obtained coupled with work exposure to highlight future decisions. All I can do as I see the benefits of interacting and inspiring my team that their presence does make difference as I agree with Kouzes Posner, (2007) in the end, we realize that leadership development is self- development. Its origin is European Community that formally created in November 1, 1993 which involves with 6 members-Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg and Netherland. Nowadays, there are 28 members. EU’s headquarter is located in Brussels, Belgium. So far, European Union has reached many achievements such as the promotion and expansion of cooperation with its Member States in economic, trade, social issues, foreign policy, security, defense, and judicial issues. Another major accomplishment of EU is the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) that makes EU succeed in having a single currency (EURO) along with a common monetary policy. EU is famous for its economy on which many countries around the world are being focused. Economic integration is one of the main goals that EU has considered since its first establishment in 1957, and it has a significantly visible success based on fundamentally by a single currency-the Euro. It is a common currency in the circle of euro area that recently can facilitate the monetary circulation in 18 countries of the member states. By doing this, EU has decided to create CAP (Common Agriculture Policy) which was launched in 1960s, and it is being cooperated with all the Member States of European Union. Its purpose is to set the conditions that will allow farmers to fulfill their multiple functions in the society — the first of which is to produce quality food. Additionally, the CPA aims to improve agricultural productivity, help farmers facing climate change, provide them with financial assistance and manage the using of natural resources prudently. For this reason, EU farmers can make a reasonable living and in the same time conserve the environment. Meanwhile, the EU is also working on the environment by choosing the method of recycling â€Å"tri-selectifà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã… ¸Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã… ¸ or â€Å"waste sorting† which is really practical among the European states. Waste Sorting is the process which waste is separated into different elements- dry and wet. The 3R that consists in â€Å"waste sorting† are Recycling, Reusing and Repairing. To protect the environment, EU chooses to ratify this regulation everywhere in Europe, so far all the acts, which oppose to the rule of waste sorting, will be counted as penalty. Moreover, the use of plastic bag is prohibited in the large commercial area such as supermarkets or hypermarkets. They’ve been working on the environment for many decades by safeguarding water, air and soil. In brief, we can see that EU has fulfilled many accomplishments. Even though EU has met some futilities such as failure of Kyoto and European Energy Policy, it’s still considered as the first successful integration community in the world. Early Arizona Women in the Mormon Faith Imagine traveling across country, in uncharted territory without air conditioning. Believe it or not, thousands of people did it. These pioneers had to protect themselves, make good of the resources around them and try to have a normal family life on top of this. As if this was not hard enough, Mormon women had a much tougher challenge to face; they had to keep faith and teach the word of the lord to all they came in contact with. Many challenges had to be overcome even once they settled, building a house, a community, and a church, not to mention the boredom and loneliness of being far from their families. Pioneering was done mainly throughout the mid to late nineteenth century in America. Women were responsible for tending to the children, cooking whatever their husbands (or fathers or brothers) may have caught that day and cleaning. There were times when animals were hard to find and no kill was brought home that night to feast on; the women had to then compromise and pick plants around them and boil them into a soup. The types of animals that were mainly found were deer, buffalo and occasionally a dog was killed to feast upon. Some of the fears of traveling to Arizona consisted of Indian attacks, robbers and family and, or friends dying along the trail. Not all tribes of Indian’s attacked traveling settlers. In an account told by Mrs. Elvira Martineau Johnson, who, in 1876, traveled with her husband to Moen Copie tells of how Navajo Indians wanted justice, not revenge. According to her, three of the tribes cattle were killed and the Navajo’s wanted to know by whom. The head of the settlement, Jas S. Brown, was hospitable and fed the Navajos while he tried to get to the bottom of the story. Brown and the Navajos traveled to another settlement not far away and discovered half-starved colonists. The colonists admitted to killing the three cattle and explained they thought the cattle were owner less. Because of the time and effort Brown devoted to solving the problem, the Navajos were satisfied and did not ask for any reparations.1 Flagstaff became one of the first Mormon settlements in Arizona.

The environmental issue has dominated most of the United States presidential candidate debates and is definitely a major concern for everyone. The major concerns that need a faster response action are the greenhouse gases that are increasingly causing global warming. Global warming refers to increased temperatures of the earth’s atmosphere with progress in time. Research has shown that the increased amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are due to the human activities especially industrialization that is increasingly releasing carbon monoxide fumes in the atmosphere. The results of the greenhouse effects are causing an increase in atmospheric temperature and disrupted climatic conditions world wide. Being a serious problem worldwide, the issue has been on the U. S presidential campaign platforms and policy making by the presidents of the United States, both former and current president. The campaigns to reduce global warming have seen calls for investment in green issues and encouraging use of bio-fuel by former presidential candidates like Al Gore (also a former Vice president under Clinton administration) who is considered to be a staunch environmentalist working against global warming. Former presidents `The issues about global warming date back to industrialization as in it’s the time that saw increased use of fossil fuel though its effects were to be noticed after some time. Many of the United States presidents have been under criticism on the type of policies they applied for environmental conservation issues during their administration. The Regan – Bush era was critical in addressing the global warming debate with Al Gore, the then Senator and Environmental conservation lobbyist criticized the policies of Bush administration (Inc Mead Data Central 1998). Clinton is considered the only president who understood that green pays as he supported green investment and fought against global warming. President Clinton’s Stance on Environment President Bill Clinton faced so much criticism on environmental issues since he relied so much on his Vice president who was an environmentalist. Most of the Democrat supporters even threatened to ditch Clinton and Support Richard A. Gephardt who was a House Minority. This move seems to be a tricky one since Al Gore was an environmentalist and conservative that most people admired and supported and he was one of the campaign planks used in the presidential campaigns. President Bill Clinton did not gain popularity because of the environmental record but on his attacks on the congress (Peterson 2004). The president managed to stop extravagant spending on the Environmental Protection Agency plus he managed to stop the most egregious efforts to adjust regulations were taking care of the species in danger of extinction and water quality standards (Inc Mead Data Central 1998). The Clinton administration came under criticism because of two critical concerns; 1. The Local air quality control standards 2. The global warming, greenhouse emissions Local air quality control: The quality control of air was not addressed and the Clinton administration did not meet the tough requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) while at the same time rejected republican proposals for adjusting some of the EPA requirements to reduce standards for certain areas. The Greenhouse effect: Clinton administration cannot claim to have taken a centrism position. During President Bush (Bush senior) governance, Al Gore (Clinton’s Vice President) was a senator and a tough environmentalist, he criticized Bush’s and on global warming and even advocated for tough laws by the Global standards. Al Gore wanted a strong American leadership and proposed a Marshall plan for funding other regime’s program to decrease greenhouse effects (Peterson 2004). Though the government signed the deal, coming in of Clinton administration failed to commit to the plan of reducing US own greenhouse gas emissions, rather the Clinton Administration went as far as stating that other governments’ objectives were too ambitious. Most of the people are less concerned about the air pollution in urban areas and greenhouse fumes. All what people seem to care about is the federal laws governing government lands. The bodies taking care of such property include bureau of land Management (BLM), United States Forest service and bureau of Reclamation among others. These agencies have faced criticism since Regan to Bush’s administration. Large state owned farms have been used by private developers to ranch their animals. Private landowners had considerably increased their fees for land, while federal administration had not, ensuing in federal subvention to few individuals. Clinton proposed an increase in the fees of the ranching to federal owned land to raise market level, a move that was not to be welcomed by the congress and he gave up before more issues arose. Clinton’s policy on logging federal lands was not a smart one and received so much disapproval. The Clinton administration was selling trees from federal lands to private companies at smaller fraction, lower than that of the market value. This is actually an abuse of office by those in charge, at to add insults to the injury, the government under the Name U. S Forest Services spent billions of Tax payer’s money constructing roads to enable logger’s access the trees with ease. The forest service being part of the Agriculture department, it does not allocate public money to land reclamation instead, they encourage logging. Initially Clinton’s policy on logging in federal lands an aggressive one as he made calls to manage forest department scientifically, he called a timber summit that approved the idea of ecosystem management. He even hired a wildlife biologist to execute the new policy. Sadly, the policy was not supported by the white house and it therefore did not work. It’s estimated that the federal government lost close to $ 1 billion selling its own forest resources between 1992 and 1994. In 1995, President Bill Clinton signed a bill (a bill proposed by Charles Taylor) that supported selling of logs and dead trees, a deal he could have vetoed. The sell included any trees that were considered to die soon! , that meant that if there was one dead tree in the forest, a number of fine trees would be cut as well since it would not be of used to sell one tree. This is what Al Gore termed as the Worst mistake made by Bill Clinton as a president. Climate scientist have found out that it’s usually initiated by the green house effect, a phenomenon in which some of the gases in the atmosphere, trap and reflect back the heat on the surface of the earth. President Bush came in to office in 2001 to and declined to support the Kyoto Protocol (Goodell 2007). This was a United Nations Convention changes to climate policies that intended to cut down the amount of greenhouse fumes that were being released in to the environment. The United Nations (UN) recognizes carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide as the major greenhouse gases that are released in to the atmosphere when fossil fuels are burnt. President Bush argued that there was no strong evidence to show that human activities were the major cause of global warming. Bush said that the uncertainty of scientists concerning the extent to which man’s actions were the problems in the treaty and did not agree on the impact the treaty would have on the United States economy as well as industrialization. President Bush also argued that since other big nations like India and China had not agreed, then he was not going to, either. The Bush government agreed that the climate changes that had been observed in the previous years were greatly due to human activities in their Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issue, though it was affirmed that that could not rule out the fact that the environmental changes could be due natural environmental variation. It is estimated that Methane would reduce a great deal of greenhouse gas released to the atmosphere, though some critics dispute Bush‘s Methane Proposal as more intoxicating contributor to greenhouse effect than the carbon dioxide emissions in the Kyoto protocol (Philander 2008). They claim that the Methane treaty would just reduce as much as what was proposed in the Kyoto protocol and that this Methane plan by Bush was not any better. The future Presidents The US government has to reformulate its policies on the conservation of environment at large and more so to reduce greenhouse effect. One of the changes would include investing in technology that supports green issues. There is very little that can be achieved in attempting to reduce the time for changing the global warming since, development of technology takes several years. Future leaders therefore need to reduce fossil oil usage by cutting down energy demands. Conclusion Conservation of environment has a serious impact on the whole world if left unmanaged and most those likely to suffer are innocent populations who have no idea of the global warming issues. Environmental policies that are set by politicians and especially the presidents of America have to be multi-front operation, and include ethical education on the need to protect the environment. The governments should invest in systems that reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as support individuals to make these changes. The efforts need to go beyond borders hence demanding global cooperation since the effects of the environmental mismanagement bring universal crisis.

The original objective of the Crusade was to provide help to the Christian Church in the East, but the seed of greed was planted in the minds of men. The opportunity for social advancement and the possibility of increasing wealth were very tempting to the crusaders. This was an opportunity for European expansion. This opened up the Mediterranean Sea for Christian shipping and provided trade with the Near and Far East. I agree with Finucane in that the Crusades were probably more motivated by greed for territory and ignorance of another culture than religious reasons. The Muslims were a threat due to their mere occupation of the lands and for no other reason than that, they were persecuted and religion was the guise to carry out the acts. You must always make sure that no fire exits in the classrooms are blocked by chairs / tables, they should always be accessible. Describe the sorts of problems that might occur when supporting learning activities, and how to deal with these: Noise Sometimes during classes children can become distracted by noise from within the classroom and from outside (such as another classroom, or people on the hallway). I help to combat this problem by closing the doors and any windows open to the noise, and also by reminding children to work as quietly as possible and raise their hand to speak rather than shout out. Insufficient resources Many of the activities set by the teacher involve the use of multiple resources e. g. books, pencils crayons, scissors, glue, rulers etc. Unfortunately there are not always enough resources for every student, resulting in there being a delay in the commencement of work (due to trying to locate extra supplies). This problem is managed by preparing for the lesson before it begins, ensuring there are sufficient resources for the class, and also by encouraging children to help to and share with each other whenever possible. Having an inclusive class with a wide spectrum of abilities another problem which can occur when supporting learning activities, is ensuring that the all children are engaged, involved and fully understanding the task that has been set when there is such a wide spectrum of abilities. This can be dealt with in several ways, such as splitting the class into ability based groups, encouraging high ability children to help those who are struggling to keep pace (this also helps to keep the class working on a similar level), and also by setting achievable targets for work. Shy students Children may suffer from shyness which can affect their ability to work individually (such as being worried about being wrong), and get involved with the class as a whole or participate in group work. Weather – The weather can always be a distraction to the children, if it’s hot and sunny out the children can get hot and agitated. 5. 1 The reasons why it is important to evaluate learning activities are: †¢ To see what is working and what needs removing or changing †¢ To assess how the activities are being delivered and how they could be improved †¢ To see how the activities are being received by the participants Evaluation is important as it helps out when planning and helps you to think about the learning that has taken place. Spending time going through the learning activities and seeing how students have responded to a certain task or question, can really help re-shape it for future classes. It is also important to look back at the learning objects so you can measure what the children have learned. If you do not think carefully about learning objectives at the planning stage, it will not always be possible to evaluate whether pupils have achieved them. Learning objectives need to be clear for this to be possible. Learners must understand what the outcomes mean. †¢ They must be achievable. †¢ We must be able to assess pupils against them. Evaluating helps you to see if something is succeeding or may need changing. If students whizzed through the activity and then looked rather bored then it would be obvious that the task was a bit too easy and not really suitable or beneficial for that group. Therefore you would need to try and make it more engaging and stimulating, perhaps by making it more difficult or time-consuming so the students really have to work to complete it. If the activities are taking longer than expected and you can see that the students are really struggling, things again would need to be addressed. Students may not meet the learning objective, but they could have a real enthusiasm for the subject and have participated fully in all aspects of the lesson. You will need to record this somewhere. 5. 2 5. 2 and 5. 4 Upon completion of the task, I then provided constructive feedback to the class teacher, and feedback on her participation and progress. I explained that the child was:  · Very pleased to be given individual support and was positively responsive to the support (smiled, listened intently, and produced the work expected through understanding)  · After a couple of examples was able to achieve the objective of drawing on the hands onto the clock face on the task sheet given  · Succeeded in progressing in the learning activity  · Went back into the classroom with a big proud smile as she had enjoyed the task and benefited from the support. I informed the teacher that she responded well to reassurance and lots of positive praise and was very happy to receive a sticker after the task. I explained that she had completed the given learning activity objective. I gave constructive feedback that she 5. 3 Difficulties which I came across As I have not worked with this particular group before I found it hard to see what stage each child was at and what support each child needed and as the task was outside we faced a lot of distractions.
